Know Your Opponent Week 2: Cincinnati Bengals

For the 94th time, the Battle of Ohio takes place this Thursday between the Cleveland Browns (0-1) and the Cincinnati Bengals (0-1). The franchises who were both founded by legendary coach Paul Brown meet twice a year and make the trek up and down Interstate 71 to fight in the intrastate rivalry.

The season series that started back in 1970 when the Bengals were founded looks close on record with Cincinnati leading it 51 wins to Cleveland’s 42 but since the Browns return in 1999, Cincinnati leads the rivalry with 27 wins to Cleveland’s 15.

Cincinnati is in rebuilding mode after parting ways with longtime Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton in the offseason when they drafted Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow with the first pick in April’s NFL Draft.

Burrow made the meteoric rise in last year’s college football season and now has the opportunity to lead one of his home state’s teams into the future with the hopes of winning their first Super Bowl in franchise history.
