Browns Sign 14 to Reserve/Futures List

The Cleveland Browns signed 14 players on Monday to reserve/future deals, getting a jumpstart on filling out their offseason roster.

The team announce they signed the following players:

  • S Elijah Benton
  • WR Ja’Marcus Bradley
  • TE Jordan Franks
  • CB A.J. Green
  • G Cordel Iwuagwu
  • QB Kyle Lauletta
  • DE Cameron Malveaux
  • TE Kyle Markway
  • K Matt McCrane
  • LB Montreal Meander
  • C Javon Patterson
  • FB Johnny Stanton
  • T Alex Taylor
  • WR Derrick Willies

These 14 players were on the Browns practice squad at the conclusion of the 2020 season which ended with a 22-17 loss to Kansas City in the Divisional Round on Sunday.

With the practice squad rules that were established because the COVID-19 pandemic, teams were able to call up two practice squad players per week at least three times before having to sign them to the active roster so a few of these players actually did see some playing time throughout the 2020 season.

The most notable was Ja’Marcus Bradley who was called up for the Week 16 matchup against the New York Jets when the top wide receivers were placed on the COVID-19/Reserve list. Bradley was elevated and made quite the impression with five catches for 60 yards in the 23-16 loss.

A future/reserve contract is for players who were not on an NFL team’s active roster. The contract takes effect when the new league year begins and are generally worth the league minimum with little to no signing bonus.
